Set Apart

My son, do not walk in the way with them; hold back your foot from their paths, - Proverbs 1:15

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. - Romans 12:2

That you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, - Philippians 2:15

Ever since I can remember, I've always wanted to 'fit in'. If my friends had a certain thing, I wanted it too. I mean, I didn't want to be left out! Most kids do this too. In fact, probably 99% of kids and teenagers do. They are always trying to get what everyone esle has, trying to live up to the latest trends and be like all their peers and friends.

Well you know what?
I am going to be that 1%.

I recently figured out that we aren't suppose to be like everyone else. We aren't suppose to fit in. We aren't suppose to follow the way of this world. God called us to be different. To be a light in this world of darkness. To not "go with the flow" or simply "do what everyone else is doing".

Is it easy? No. But God never said things would be easy. He said all things are possible through Him. (Phil. 4:13) Not easier.

And so it is, my latest mission. To set myself apart from the world. To not be 'normal'. To stand out. To be a light.

Because NORMAL IS NOT ENOUGH.
